Description: Provide software support to the US Army Corps of Engineers Combat Terrain Information System (CTIS). CTIS is a system designed to provide operational Army units with terrain situational awareness supporting the warfighter during the planning and execution of maneuvers. Commercial software used includes Environmental Systems Research Institute (ESRI) Internet Map Server (IMS), ESRI Spatial Data Engine (SDE) and Informix Database software to deploy a web client that accesses National Imagery and Mapping Agency (NIMA) catalog and digital map data. This activity supports database replication, system redundancy and failover, and the ability to transfer large data files within a web based environment. Tasks performed include developing requirements, system design, loading and configuring SDE with digital map data, developing the ArcIMS interface, and configuring the application for web deployment. Other software tasks include supporting the development of Enhanced Tactical Decision Aids (TDAs) and Terrain Visualization models, and the integration of hardware and software within existing Army Tactical shelters and vehicles.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities: This individual will be responsible for design, development and implementation of software as a member of the CTIS software development team. Core responsibilities include software development and integration. The position requires development of software modules to run on Windows platforms, software bug fixes, software and system troubleshooting and general support for deployed systems. Candidate requires good communication skills and enjoy working in a team environment.
Essential Functions: Develop software modules in C++, C#, Java and .NET to run on Windows platforms. Provide technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems. Solutions are imaginative, thorough, and practicable, and consistent with organization objectives. Works under only general direction. Independently determines and develops approach to solutions. Work is reviewed upon completion for adequacy in meeting objectives.
Education/Experience/Special Knowledge Required: Degree in computer sciences/engineering with (1-3) or (3-5) years experience in software design and development. Experience with object oriented programming languages C++, and Java preferred. Domain experience with geospatial and imagery systems a plus.
